Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
