Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
