Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the dawn 1 and the ten nights, 2 by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) 3 The night as it advances, 4 Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 and caused much corruption in them: 12 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when he tries him and stints for him his provision, then he says, 'My Lord has despised me.' 16 By no means! But ye honour not the orphan, 17 or urge one another to feed the destitute? 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. 20 Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 nor will any bind as He binds. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Enter thou among My righteous bondmen! 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
