The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.
