The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
