The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its brightness 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and the earth and all its expanse! 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
