The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
