Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
