The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
