The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
