The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
