The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
