The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
