The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
