(Muhammad), remember the morning when you left home to show the believers their position in the battle? God is All-hearing and All-knowing. 121 When two parties of you almost fell away, and Allah was their Protecting Friend. In Allah let believers put their trust. 122 And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful. 123 When thou didst say unto the believers: Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should support you with three thousand angels sent down (to your help)? 124 Nay, but if ye persevere, and keep from evil, and (the enemy) attack you suddenly, your Lord will help you with five thousand angels sweeping on. 125 Allah made it not but as a message of good news for you and as an assurance to your hearts. And there is no victory except from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 126 and that He might cut off a part of the unbelievers or frustrate them, so that they turned in their tracks, disappointed. 127 This matter is not for you to decide whether He guides them to repent or punishes them, for they are the unjust. 128 Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth belong to God. He forgives whoever He pleases and punishes whoever He pleases. God is most forgiving and ever merciful. 129
