The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
