The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
