In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
