Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, may he be ruined. 1 His substance availed him not, nor that which he earned. 2 [In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing; 3 and so too will his wife who (threw thorns and firewood in the Prophet's way). 4 A rope made from palm fibre around her neck! 5

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
