Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

DESTROYED WILL BE the hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself will perish. 1 His wealth will not suffice him, neither what he has gained; 2 He will soon enter the flaming fire. 3 And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), or use to slander him). 4 with a rope of twisted fibre round her neck. 5

God the Almighty always says the truth.
