The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 who desires to expel you from your land; what do you command?' 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 The Pharaoh replied, "In addition to your rewards, you will become my close friends thereafter." 114 They said: "O Moses! wilt thou throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?" 115 He said, 'You cast.' And when they cast they put a Spell upon the people's eyes, and called forth fear of them, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 They said: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
