The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
Almighty Allah's Truth.
