[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
