۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What, do we then not die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
