Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
