۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
