In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Indeed this is nothing but a Good Counsel; so let him who will take a way leading to his Lord. 19
