The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
