The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
