The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
