The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
