The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Praise belongs to Allah who has sent down the Book to His worshiper (Prophet Muhammad) and has not made any crookedness in it, 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 They will abide therein for ever. 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 No knowledge thereof have they, nor had their fathers. Odious is the word that cometh out of their mouths; they say not but a lie. 5 Haply thou art going to kill thyself over their footsteps, if they believe not in this discourse, out of sorrow. 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, "Our Lord, grant us Your special mercy and give us right guidance in our affair." 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
