The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
