We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. 17 He utters not a word, but there is a vigilant watcher at hand. 18 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" 19 And the Trumpet shall be blown; that is the Day of the Threat. 20 And every human being will come forward with [his erstwhile] inner urges and [his] conscious mind, 21 'Thou wast heedless of this; therefore We have now removed from thee thy covering, and so thy sight today is piercing.' 22 And his companions shall say: This is what is ready with me. 23 [Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 He will say: "Dispute not with each other in My Presence: I had already in advance sent you Warning. 28 There is no changing of My word, nor am I unjust to My creatures." 29
