(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 40
