The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched! 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
