The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man, 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees with their dates in sheaths, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
