The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
