The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
