The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
