۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 “Instead of Allah and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
