The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
