a good many of olden times, 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 “They will all be gathered together – on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
