And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, "Do you see these - whom you worship?" 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity." 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 "The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons." 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
