The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day resplendent 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
