WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
