The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
