The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
