O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Verily! Those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and believe in His messages 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 And We do not lay on any soul a burden except to the extent of its ability, and with Us is a book which speaks the truth, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My signs were recited to you, but upon your heels you withdrew, 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or, do you ask a tribute from them? Your Lord's tribute is better. He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 until We open before them a gate of [truly] severe suffering [in the life to come]: and then, lo! they will be broken in spirit. 77
