Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
